Job Description

Purpose:

The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for partnering with the office, retail and DC Operations teams to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance to all applicable global, regional and local regulations.

A successful incumbent demonstrates the ability to build the trust and confidence to inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handles direction and execution of all written safety programs and policies as per local regulations and ISO standard across all offices, retail stores and DCs in Hong Kong
  • Share and implement best practices with H&S global and local counterparts
  • Responds to all safety/health-related incidents and conducts investigations as required
  • Leads safety training and awareness sessions for all employee and management teams
  • Participates as site representative in global H&S programs and initiatives
  • Designs and implements required safety training programs and processes; as well as, maintains training record keeping
  • Captures, analyses, and reacts to safety metrics and reviews weekly and monthly incident trends to discover patterns on areas where the safety risk is highest
  • Assists in preparing required plans and appropriate facility operating procedures
  • Conducts risk assessments on the workplace organization, associate behaviours and DC processes to ensure that training, auditing and scoring methods are accurate, consistent and in compliance
  • Keeps Operations team informed of new and developing health and safety regulations
  • Leads accident investigations, performing root cause analysis for all injuries and “near misses.” Trains Operations supervisors to conduct thorough investigations
  • Leverages lean principles and kaizens to lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for all employees
  • Maintain all records and documentation in compliance with local, and ISO standards
  • Ensures vendors, contractors and third-party employees are compliant to Company H&S standards
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned to support the organization

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of all applicable corporate, global (ISO), federal (OSHA), state, local health and safety regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English
  • Excellent organization skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Energetic, proactive manner and action oriented behavior
  • Demonstrated ability to develop all facets of successful and sustainable safety programs and culture
  • Demonstrated ability to lead local regulatory compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to manage ISO recordkeeping and audits as well as H&S metrics
  • Demonstrated investigation skills

Requisite Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupation Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Management or a related field as well as a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
  • Certification in an EH&S related discipline and/or Professional Engineer (PE) designation is preferred
  • 5-7 years Health & Safety Experience
  • Experience in training associates on facility safety and environmental procedures
  • Ability to travel 30% of time
