Job Description
Main Purpose of Job
- Develop and drive product strategy and proposition development to achieve strategic targets
- Be the key contact person of our alternative distribution partners
- Drive product initiatives in accordance with business strategy and distribution channels’ needs;
- Establish & implement methods, best practices and tools for product development, as well as performance monitoring;
- Ensure appropriate risk management governance and transparency of relevant technical and business decisions.
Key Accountabilities
Product Development and Technical Support & Governance
- Development and execution of product action plan for each year
- Take the ownership of product approval process
- Steer discussion with distribution channels, Claims, Underwriting, Medical Networks to align overall product strategy and implementation;
- Establish best practice and tools for product development and performance monitoring;
- Technical review and inputs to product proposition and benchmark including benefits and wording of new and refreshed products/ initiatives
- Review reinsurance arrangement to achieve optimal strategic alignment, product proposition and profitability, and contribute to arrangements with health service and process providers;
Strategic Partnership
- Be the key contact person of our alternative distribution partners
- Develop, manage the regular and ad-hoc communication and overall relationship
Product Propositions
- Strive for health and protection product innovations and feasibility study to enhance customer value propositions and business growth opportunities across distribution channels;
- Maintain and further develop product knowledge base to facilitate knowledge sharing and idea generation;
- Lead research and regular updates of market to identify opportunities and manage risks.
Performance Monitoring / Product Management
- Keep track of product performance and identify timely actions
- Issues resolution for existing products (e.g., clarification of T&Cs)
- Steer insights from technical analyses to drive business actions to improve portfolio performance and achieve targets;
- Recommend solutions to overcome challenges and risks;
- Co-ordinate and work with other teams (e.g., Claims, Underwriting, Medical Networks) to drive recommended solutions;
Other
- Participate in Strategy Planning and regular Business Reviews to drive Health & Protection strategy and actions to manage key business risks with internal and external stakeholders;
- Develop talent through appropriate guidance, training and development initiatives.
Experience and qualifications
- Proven experience in product development in insurance industry, especially Health (FHB experience will be a plus) and Protection (e.g. CI) business
- Strong working knowledge of insurance product development process, including proposition, marketing, operation, distribution and systems considerations
- Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills, including the ability to interact and partner with other team leaders to achieve objectives
- Familiar with insurance company business and operations in a multi-national company setting
- Strong drive, able to work independently and under pressure, take lead in designated projects with multiple stakeholders
